In order to correctly pack/keep up with growing order numbers and to send out confirmation emails in time to receive a response from customers pertaining their orders.
We have decided to amend our shipping policy going forward.
Change 1;
All orders containing live ants will continue to be sent out on Mondays.
However,
Any order consisting of only Ant-keeping products will be sent Monday-Tuesdays depending on the number of orders that week to prioritise live orders. We will do our utmost to try and get all packages out on Mondays.
Change 2;
Our cut off time for weekly orders is now Close of Business on Friday.
Thus our running week will be Saturday-Friday.
This is to allow us to compile and plan out the weekend and packaging to be as efficient as possible.
ALL ORDERS PLACED AFTER 9PM FRIDAYS, will be sent out in the following weeks postage(not the coming Monday).

The additional terms have been added to TheAntLab.com, partnered sole trader company "The Ant Lab" and its customers as of 23/02/2023.
These terms are agreed upon all new purchases from the stated date onwards.
In regards to some product limits now placed upon customers, these are inclusive of all past purchases by each customer and any attempt to circumvent these new term may result in partial refund, order cancelation, permanent ban from the store and or details passed onto the appropriate authorities for the worst cases along with any additional fee's.
It is the duty of the customer to read terms and conditions when purchasing a product from this Online store or any Physical representation of the store.
Upon purchase the customer agrees to all terms and conditions including any updates made to these conditions made prior to the time of purchase.
Additions:
1; In order to allow for a higher number of customers to access a wide range of Species, each customer is now restricted to purchasing 2 of each species. This is inclusive of all past orders placed by any customer and will continue indefinitely.
Upon the selection of more then 2 queens of any species or the re-purchase of queens previously purchased The Ant Lab retains the right to;
Without notice provide a partial refund, order cancelation and/or formal contact via email regarding the purchase for an explanation/discussion.
It is the customers responsibility to check over each order for excessive selections.
Disregard towards these purchase limits will not be tolerated.
Automatic partial refunds will incur fee's equal to the fee's charged to the TheAntLab from our Payment providers(Square 2.2% & PayPal 1.75% + 30c Domestic cards, 2.9% + 30c for international cards).
Automatic order cancelations will incur a minimum fee of $15 plus additionally any fee's charged to the TheAntLab from our Payment providers(Square 2.2%, PayPal 1.75% + 30 Domestic cards, 2.9% + 30 for international cards).
Repeat offenders will be given a warning, before a probation period and eventual ban for continued offences.
2; Wholesale ant packages are for purchase by other companies and sole-traders who have a business that is within the pet and animal trade. However a term of the purchasing of ants for the purpose of resale, the purchaser will not be allowed to advertise online unless it is via their own website or social media. Wholesalers due to receiving a discount on bulk purchases will also agree to advertise their ants at a price equal to or higher then that of TheAntLab.com outside of sales periods.
3; Any Customer found to be re-selling live ants purchased via TheAntLab for the purpose of monetary gain within 6 months of purchase(outside of wholesale agreements) will be bared from purchasing from the store and blacklisted. Furthermore the former customer may be liable for any monetary damages afflicted to the social standing of the store and it’s partners and reported to authorities if illegal dealings have been confirmed.
4; Customers agree not to partake in acquiring or the keeping of exotic and non-native Australian fauna and flora inclusive of ants. that does not all ready legally reside within Australia and is purchased through a legal source. Furthermore the customer agrees to not involve themselves in the illegal export of Invertebrates to other countries or to pass on ants purchased from The Ant Lab to anyone suspected of illegal trading and export.
5; Any customer found to be participate in the logistics of any kind regarding illegal export agrees to legal actions and is to pay damages to The Ant Lab in the form of the following:
- Permanent band and black list from TheAntLab.com, partner companies, social media groups, ant keeping groups, chats and any website that TheAntLab is able to contact regarding sales of live fauna.
- Monetary damages equal to the full amount gained via the re-sale of the invertebrates, as well as $1000 per live animal/invertebrate exported outside of Australian borders.
- Any legal fee's in which TheAntLab accrues in the collection of damage payment and any further fines or fee's placed upon TheAntLab via any government agency.
- To abstain TheAntLab of any responsibility and legal recourse due to any broken laws by government or any additional agency.
6: Third party purchasers of ants acquired through TheAntLab also are privy to these terms and conditions and accept these terms and conditions irrespectively of being notified of them by the original purchaser.
6.1; Any ant store physical or digital outside of Australia who is found to have purchased ants originating from TheAntLab agrees to provide TheAntLab with proof of both Legal Export and Legal Import paperwork for each ant found to have come from The Ant Lab. Furthermore if said paperwork is unable to be supplied this store as a third party purchaser is liable for further fees of up to $5000 per ant acquired illegally and these damages to be paid to TheAntLab along with any legal fee's associated. Additionally the appropriate authorities of the Australian government and the stores country of origin ,will be informed and Exporting/Importing licenses of these stores/individuals revoked permanently.
7; Customers whom are found to purchase or otherwise obtain Ant colonies larger then reasonably can be explained to be 1 year old acknowledge that their access to the store may be revoked at any time if the colony was found to have not been in a position requiring removal.
8; Customers who are found to be collecting or suggest to others the collection of fauna from protected areas acknowledge that their access to the store may be revoked at any time and their actions reported to their local authorities where applicable.
9; Customers who purchase multi queen colonies are informed that they are at most to be refunded the difference between queen packages at the occurrence of one or more queens deceased in transit. A full refund will not be given or postage refunded if one or more queens is still alive when the colony is received.
NO INTERNATIONAL LIVE ANT SALES - No exceptions
All orders made to overseas addresses containing live ants will be cancelled and refunded, minus a $15 restocking transaction fee.
When purchasing from this site you agree to the following:
Any customers who purchase ants from us for the purpose of resale overseas will be reported to the governing Authorities and prosecuted.
Australian Residents in Western Australia and Tasmania
Please note that the above policy also applies to Western Australia and Tasmania. You will be unable to purchase live ants for distribution over your state lines due to Biosecurity laws.
We will be working with state authorities to work around this in the future.
Shipping Live Ants - Australia Wide (excluding Western Australia and Tasmania)
We ensure all our ants are packaged appropriately so they arrive at your door in the very best condition. If something should happen to your ant(s) on their way to you, please contact us within 12 hours of arrival so that we can replace or refund your purchase.(minus shipping if decided by customer, with shipping if unable to replace).
We only send live ants via express delivery and they will often require a signature to make sure they are not left anywhere where their condition would be compromised.
Orders containing queens are only sent on Mondays when the temperature does not exceed 32 degrees Celsius.
Orders placed after midday 12:00 on Sundays will be shipped the following week as we package our orders on Sunday nights.
Please understand that this is to ensure that your ant(s) arrive in the best condition and are not left out in the elements of sun, wind and rain but also to allow for down time as we are a small business with minimal employees.
You will be provided with your tracking number after your ant(s) have been shipped so you will know when to expect your order and make suitable arrangements for collection.
You as the customer need to be aware of your states laws and restrictions.
As mentioned above, due to biosecurity in Western Australia and Tasmania, we are unable to send ants to these states.
In future, we hope to have partners in these states to be able to stock local ant species for distribution.
Shipping Products - Australia Wide
Product orders will be shipped via Australia Post and you will be provided with shipping options at checkout including express and standard shipping rates.
Regardless of being combined with a live ants they will be shipped on the next Monday(unless closures).
Product only orders are to be left without signature.

Shipping estimates will be affected by the Christmas rush period. We recommend placing orders as early as possible prior to Christmas to ensure you receive your order on time.
Our team at The Ant Lab love the holidays! We will take a brief 2 week break from the 22nd December until our first day back on the 5th January. Please note that you will still be able to reach us during this time and place orders, your orders will be confirmed and shipped starting the following week on the 10th January. Please be patient with our team as it may take longer to get back to you then usual.
Live Arrival Guarantee - Express Mail Only
The Ant Lab provides a live arrival guarantee for all of our queen ants.
If your ant(s) arrive deceased, a refund or replacement is available provided the below conditions are met:
- Adequate proof is provided within 12 hours that the queen was not alive at time of arrival
- Ants must be collected from any postal service within 12 hours of any attempted delivery
- Worker ants, eggs, larvae and cocoons are not covered by this or any guarantee
If the above conditions are met, a replacement queen will be sent to the same address the following week. If a replacement is not available, a refund or store credit will be given minus shipping costs.
NOTE: This guarantee also applies to our range of cleaner insects (springtails and isopods) if all members arrive deceased.
Please ensure the correct environment for breeding purposes to ensure maximum survival rate and generational continuation of your clean-up crew.
Fertile Queen Guarantee
When you purchase a queen from The Ant Lab, we guarantee fertility!
Establishing fertility (the ability to produce workers) can be up to a few months for confirmation, so please have patience.
We do not sell queens with wings unless proven breeders (with workers), as queens are most likely to shed their wings after mating.
At point of sale, all of our queens have a minimum of a brood (eggs, larva or pupa) or when advertised, with workers, thereby proving fertility.
If you purchase one of our founding stage queens and only drones (males) are produced, we will replace her or give store credit if out of ant stock.

Queens and Colonies
The Ant Lab guarantees live arrival of all purchased queen ants.
This guarantee does not extend to workers, pupa, larva or eggs, due to the shipping process and other unforeseen circumstances, brood and workers may be eaten by other workers, other brood or the queen herself.
As such, once received we do not offer any refunds or replacements for queens unless the "live arrival guarantee" conditions are met.
The Ant Lab does NOT offer refunds for change of mind on live ant purchases.
To ensure you purchase the correct ant, please read the information provided in each ant's description and enquire with other sources or with us directly to ensure your ability to care for each of our six-legged friends.
Due to the nature of ant keeping and unknown environmental factors within your home, we do not offer a refund of replacement for queens who have passed after their arrival period.
Please take the time to reduce environmental factors that could harm your ants before purchasing. We have provided a quick information guide to assist in this, so please read at your leisure.
Ant Keeping Products
All of our products are covered by Australian consumer laws.
Change of Mind (excluding live ant sales)
Our change of mind policy extends 14 days. If 14 days have gone by since your purchase, we will be unable to offer you a refund or exchange.
We offer a full refund within 14 days, minus shipping, for change of mind purchases.
Items must be returned unopened/unused in original condition, at the expense of the purchaser.
If returning a single item from a multi-purchase order, you will be refunded the single item cost.
Please contact us directly via our email info@theantlab.com regarding returns and include your order number and receipt/proof of purchase.
Damaged Items
Replacement of Damaged Parts
We offer a full range of replacement parts in case of damage during shipping free of change.
Please notify us within 48 hours of receiving your package with adequate proof of the damaged parts of your order for us to send out replacement parts in a timely manner.
After Purchase Replacements
We offer the same full range of replacement parts encase of damage sustained by the owner into the future, please contact us with information regarding the item name and if possible your order number and we will be able to supply a quote for the part at cost/part and postage.
Ant Food and Cleaner Insects
We do not offer refunds on food items (liquid sugar, seeds, etc.) or our range of cleaner insects (springtails and isopods).
Here at The Ant Lab, we endeavour for people to purchase cleaner insects from local suppliers to ensure 100% live sales and reduce mail travel/costs.
We offer a replacement for 100% deceased arrival of cleaner insects.
It's up to our customers to contact us regarding returns, exchanges, refunds, replacement parts and/or information regarding our returns address.
Packages sent to the incorrect address cannot be processed or refunded.
Exchanges (if applicable)
We only replace items if they are defective or damaged. If you need an exchange for the same item, send us an email at info@theantlab.com
You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. Shipping costs are non-refundable.
If you are shipping an item over $75.00 AUD, we recommend using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance. We don’t guarantee that we will receive your returned item.
Sale Items (if applicable)
Only full priced items may be refunded. This does not include discounted items for promotions and events, only items marked as 'Clearance' or 'Sale'.
Unfortunately, clearance and sale items will not be refunded only replaced or at most given a store credit in the form of a gift card or Code.
Incorrectly marked Items
Some items will sometimes be marked incorrectly as $0.00, this is a malfunction of the stores editing software that we are aware of. Please note any orders placed for products or Ants marked as "Free" or otherwise noted to cost $0.00 will not be filled.
In regards to orders containing other items we will contact you, for orders only containing the improperly marked items The Ant Lab reserves the Right to refund and cancel the order on the spot with no notification.
Refunds (if applicable)
Once your return is received and inspected by our returns personnel, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval/rejection of your refund.
If you are approved, then your refund will be processed and a credit will automatically be applied to your original method of payment, within a time dependant on bank and payment selection. We apologise that we are unable to be more specific.
Late or Missing Refunds (if applicable)
If you haven’t received a refund within 3 business days, contact your credit card company.
Refunds via card are done by SQUARE, the company website states refund can take between3-7 business days.
It may take some time before your refund is officially posted.
Or contact your bank. There is often some processing time before a refund is posted.

Some queen ants and ant colonies offered for sale by The Ant Lab have the potential to cause injury or illness via stinging and biting. In certain persons, although unlikely, the venom may initiate an anaphylactic response. No ants should be handled unprotected and adequate safety precautions must be taken when caring for the ants. The Ant Lab will not be held liable for any injury or illness obtained due to or as a result of the purchase of ants.
SECTION 14 - INDEMNIFICATION
You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless The Ant Lab and our parent, subsidiaries, affiliates, partners, officers, directors, agents, contractors, licensors, service providers, subcontractors, suppliers, interns and employees, harmless from any claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, made by any third-party due to or arising out of your breach of these Terms of Service or the documents they incorporate by reference, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third-party.

Here at The Ant Lab, we are setting a standard for the ant-keeping community both in the way that we conduct sales but also in Purchases and general ant-keeping standards.
We care for our ant's overall well-being and will not conduct business with people who have prior voiced or shown poor treatment/ethics towards their ants or unprovoked aggression towards other ant keepers.
In contacting us or having been contacted by a member of our team you(the seller) must agree to the following terms and conditions,
Your queens must;
We (The Ant Lab) agree to provide a deposit of half the agreed-upon value of the purchase on the day of postage to catchers that we have previously had dealings with.
New catchers will be given a deposit of 20% along with standard postage costs.
Full payment along with reimbursement for additional postage costs + standard padding cost will be transferred once your package has arrived and the above conditions checked.
This process will be videotaped for quality control and all deceased/injured queens pictured will then be provided to the seller upon request.
All deaths and injury's during postage will be absorbed by the seller(you) as their loss and re-reimbursement will be provided to The Ant Lab where more than 50% of the Posted stock is found to be deceased and/or defective. Extra coverage on a package is up to the discretion of the sender.
Failure to agree to & meet these terms and conditions will incur your details being added to a "black list" for all future sales and purchases from The Ant Lab and its direct partners. Other online sites and sellers may also be notified of such occurrences to protect the greater ant keeping community from scams and poor quality ethics.
